MAHALA ~ A name meaning kindness and tenderness - qualities I hope are reflected in the way MAHALA creates, collaborates and curates.
After travelling and living around the world, I became fascinated by the way different places express themselves through art, jewellery and craftsmanship. I developed an eye for pieces that feel special - not simply because they follow a trend, but because they have a story, a sense of place and something of the person who created them.
The idea for MAHALA had been there for some time, with my increasing love for the ocean and an island lifestyle, but it was only when I began creating jewellery myself that it started to take shape. I became fascinated not only by discovering beautiful pieces, but by the process of making them.
Creating jewellery gave me the inspiration to finally bring MAHALA to life: a place where I could share the pieces I create alongside beautiful finds from independent artists and small businesses around the world, with a similar appreciation for the ocean.

We choose gold-filled and gold vermeil jewellery over simple plated alternatives, because we want the pieces we curate to be made for wearing, keeping and loving for years to come - not simply for a season.
We also care about where things come from and how they are made. We seek out creators who share our values around thoughtful production, responsible materials and ethical sourcing, and we are committed to being transparent about what we choose and why.
